Project – Building a Pizza Oven for Action4Youth

In a shady copse at an outdoor education centre in Milton Keynes, Rotary MK erected a pizza oven to enhance the work of Action 4 Youth’s Forest School programme. Much fun was had by all.

Action 4 Youth www.action4youth.org are an established youth charity whose aim is to enable young people of all abilities and disabilities to challenge themselves and work with others – learning what they can achieve rather than what they cannot.

At their outdoor education base Caldecotte Xperience in Milton Keynes they provide positive, often transformational experiences and activities, one of which is a Forest School, where young people are taught the basics of outdoor living, fun survival skills, cooking, fire making and shelter building. Bringing together all the above bush craft skills, sees the young people making and cooking their own pizzas in an outdoor, specially built pizza oven.

Rotary MK was alerted to their need for an oven in one of their newly designed bush craft areas, giving the club members an opportunity to work together over two days, for the good of the community.

Additionally, in Spring of 2021, members of Rotary MK will take a group of 20 disadvantaged young people for a weekend camp at Caldecotte Xperience and, of course, will be making and cooking pizzas in the new oven!
